Check it off the list

I called Linds and asked her if she could go to Babies-R-Us with me to help me register. Kenny and I had such a horrible time the first go-round and I desperately needed a moms help. Or, so I thought I did. We showed up and ended up only adding about 5 more things! I guess Kenny and I aren’t as clueless as we thought we were-somewhat comforting. So, other than going back to Target to add a couple more items I forgot about, we are done registering! I know it’s a bit early, but I am too impatient to wait. So, another thing checked off the list!

Now, I just have to finish the room, which is not going well. I ordered a rug I am pretty sure I will hate, I found a dresser that’s a bit more than I wanted to spend (it’s on my registry actually), and I have yet to find artwork on www.Etsy.com that will work. Like the registry and picking a name, I just want it done.

It's a hamburger!

Or as Kenny's brother so eloquently put it, an axe wound. We are having a girl, people. We are flippin' surprised (and obviously excited). We couldn't believe it when they told us. The news crew also met us at my appointment with the results from my blood test. She wouldn't tell me until we saw on the ultrasound-and what do you know, the test was right! She was moving all around and looked so tiny and adorable on the screen. It was amazing to see all her little parts in working order. Makes it a bit more real.
After the appointment, we went straight to Babies-R-Us to register. I thought it would be fun. I could not have been more wrong. When we registered for our wedding, we knew what we wanted/needed. Here we had no clue. It was overwhelming and anything but enjoyable. I will definitely have to make another trip to register for more things and I have to delete some of the crap I put on there this time.

It's a girl! So weird to call it a she now.

20 weeks

I had a meltdown today-both the moms at the house at the same time. Talking, talking, talking. Too much to handle. Deep breathes.

Pink or blue?

I have my ultrasound this afternoon. Hopefully, all goes well and we get to find out the sex of this little nugget! Place your bets now, Internet. Boy or girl? Kenny and I vote boy.

And, go…..

Let's just drive

Kenny worked way too much these past few weeks. Too many days straight and way too many hours. He actually had an entire weekend off, which is unheard of anymore, so we were really looking forward to spending a fun weekend together. Saturday morning, we woke up and decided to pack the car up and drive to Salida. We loaded up the bikes and the girls in the Element and took off. It was Fibark weekend-a rafting, kayaking, drinking, socializing festival so a lot of people were in town. We did some visiting and then went to watch the hooligan races. People make rafts out of whatever they want and try to float down the river. Pool toys, kegs, 5 gallon buckets, or whatever else they feel like duct-taping together. It’s an entertaining race to watch as most of them get torn apart while trying to get through the rapids.
As we headed out of town, we were trying to decide whether or not we were going to go home, camp in the car somewhere, or something else. We ended up at Kris and Patrick’s to spend the night. Sunday was spent hanging out and smoking food. We got home late Sunday night and then, of course, back to work today.
It was a really fun, spontaneous weekend!

Mom jeans make me gag

I figured out how to become a millionaire. I am going to open a maternity store here in Colorado Springs that doesn’t sell ugly shit.

I am sure Denver has some really cute stores, but that’s too far for my “Iwantitrightthisverysecond” attitude, and I don’t want to spend a ton of money for something I am going to wear for a few months.

I have been looking around town the past few days for some clothes and it’s slim pickin’s. Stores either have no maternity section at all and if they do, it is like 3 racks. I was mainly looking for some pants/shorts. I was unaware that I had to buy “mom jeans” before I even technically become a mom. They all seemed to be tapered at the bottom with really tiny ass pockets. Nothing like tiny butt-pockets to accentuate a growing back-end. I went to Old Navy like everyone said and their jeans are going to have to wait a few months. They will fit better later. Other then those, it was torture finding anything acceptable. I even went to some stores that I would never go to in hopes of finding something passable.

I ended up finding a few pairs that will suffice. They are cute, but not my favorite. Dresses are looking more and more appealing by the second.

19 weeks

I bought preggo pants this past week. I have decided I hate belly bands, so I skipping them and going straight to my new fat pants and dresses. Kenny wanted to prove he was actually home tonight, so that would be his hand on the left.

Thanks friends!

It’s so much easier when you are getting married because you know your Maid of Honor is going to be the one to throw you a shower. Having a baby is different. I have a lot of fantastic friends, but in the back of my mind, I was kindof stressed out that no one would offer, for whatever reason. They just didn’t want to, they figured someone else would offer, etc. But, no! I have shower hosts and I am so excited! It is going to be great!

18 weeks

Well, this may become a common pose for the weekly pictures. I am home by myself again, and this is the easiest way to do it. I went to the Dr. on Wednesday and I have gained weight. It's the first appointment where I saw an increase on the scale. I know I am supposed to gain weight. I know I am making a baby. I know it's only the beginning. I know. However this is the most I have ever weighed in my life and it's only the beginning. It's a lot to take in, Internet. Cut me some slack.

I've been pricked

I have been pricked, multiple times.

I met 4 other people down at the station yesterday to do the test. Prior to us even going into the conference room, they disinfected it, wiping every down. They had to remove all the male DNA in the room because it could alter the test to give faulty results. Apparently, this blood test looks for a Y chromosome in the sample. The baby’s blood runs through the mom’s blood and so if a Y is present, it’s a boy. If not, it’s a girl.

We all sat around a table, opened our packages, and started to read the directions. This test proved to be a lot more difficult then I thought! We had to FILL 4 1 inch diameter circles on a piece of paper with our blood. COMPLETELY FILL. My fingers were white and numb when I was done. I had nothing left to give. You were supposed to drip the blood onto the paper and not touch it. I had to prick my finger 4 different times to even come close to filling the circles completely.

Now we wait. I guess you can get the results in as quick as 3 days, but we have to wait for them to send it and then wait to get them back. I assume it will be a few weeks before I hear anything.
